The Children's Hospital at MetroHealth Medical Center Resident Life

Residency is grueling, regardless of the program or specialty. At The Children's Hospital at MetroHealth, we recognize that personal time and quality of life both in and out of the hospital are essential to a success in residency. The residents and faculty host monthly, informal gatherings where family and friends are always welcome – whether it be Halloween, Fourth of July, or simply a weekend barbeque. Annual gatherings include the Program Director's Fall Festival, the Intern Welcome Party, the superbowl party, the Senior Graduation Party and the year end celebration.   These are in addition to the several events organized by the MetroHealth officers association.

What Sets Us Apart

The Pediatric Residency Program at The Children's Hospital at MetroHealth strives for a unique, resident-friendly, resident-directed environment that sets us apart from other programs. At MetroHealth, we are committed to a resident education within a program that fosters learning within an environment rich in close faculty interaction, independent thinking, resident autonomy in patient management and decision making. The size of our program allows for an intimate environment and one-on-one interaction between residents, medical students, and faculty. Daily teaching and didactic sessions are the rule rather than the exception. In addition, the program is resident-oriented and resident-directed, addressing the concerns of the group through the year. Monthly house staff meetings also serve to update residents, and also provide a forum to address concerns and suggestions.
