The Children's Hospital at MetroHealth Medical Center
Adolescent Medicine
Founded in 1970, the Division of Adolescent Medicine at MetroHealth was the first such program in Cleveland to provide comprehensive services for teenagers. Since that time, the Division of Adolescent Medicine has continued to expand medical education for trainees from many different professional backgrounds while diversifying its services to teenagers up to the age of 25, and expanding its already impressive clinical research base. Research efforts that have garnered investigator awards and NIH funding include studies regarding the risk of type 2 diabetes in adolescents and the clinical side effects of hormonal contraception. Reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the patient population served by MetroHealth, the Adolescent Clinic has a large Hispanic population. A Spanish-speaking physician has recently been recruited to the faculty to develop the first culturally sensitive health service for adolescents in Cleveland.
The Adolescent Medicine Clinic is located in the Pediatric Clinic in the Women's and Children's Pavilion. To schedule an appointment call 216-778-2222.
