Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the surgical sub-speciality of dentistry.
Services preformed by the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery include:
- Dentoalveolar surgery (removal of impacted teeth)
- Dental implant surgery
- Orthognathic surgery (osteotomies of upper and lower jaws)
- Bone or soft tissue oral reconstruction surgery
- Repair of facial fractures
- Out-patient intravenous anesthesia
- Benign oral oncologic (tumors and cysts) surgery
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery division faculty, staff and residents treat patients in the ambulatory clinic Monday through Friday each week. Elective operating room surgical cases are completed Wednesday and Thursday.
Representatives from the division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery are involved in the weekly head and neck tumor board and the monthly pediatric cranio-facial defect clinic.
